Lake Hiawatha Park features 241 acres of mature trees, wide open spaces, and a beautiful lake. It is a favorite park for its pool and beaches. In the winter, Minneapolis Parks maintains an ice rink at this location. Minneapolis Beaches are open from mid-June to late August. Lake Hiawatha Beach has no lifeguard on duty. The wading pool is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day and has a zero-depth entry great for little swimmers and some fun splash features for the older ones. There is also a playground within a few yards of the pool. In the winter months, Lake Hiawatha maintains outdoor skating rinks for both hockey and skating.
