Sat, Nov 2: Walker First Free Saturday | Walker Art Center, Minneapolis
It’s not always easy to enjoy art with little ones (or grade schoolers or tweens, for that matter), but Walker attempts to make it a more inclusive experience during their First Free Saturday program. The museum buzzes with art-making workshops, kid films, scavenger hunts throughout the galleries and live performances that stretch young attention spans and might spark conversation about the art. Plus, there’s always the revamped Minneapolis Sculpture Garden to explore when the kids get wiggly. 10am-3pm. FREE admission.
Sun, Nov 3: Kids Dance Party | Can Can Wonderland, St Paul
Each first Sunday of the month, the playful indoor miniature golf venue known as Can Can Wonderland heats up the links just for the youngest ones with a free Kids Dance Party! The tunes will spin 10-11:30am. Check Can Can’s November calendar for other weekend entertainment. If you’re interested in golfing, each artist-designed hole is a blast to play through.
CURL UP WITH BOOKS
Sat, Nov 2: Launch Party | Red Balloon Bookshop, St Paul
Join local author Cheryl Minnema for a reading and celebration of her new picture book, Johnny’s Pheasant. Cheryl will share her new story, take questions, and tell us all about making the book. Afterward, enjoy some celebratory cake. 2pm, FREE.

Sun, Nov 3: Sunday Storytime & Crafts | Half Price Books, Coon Rapids
A good tale and a special craft activity on the first Sunday of the month. Kids will receive a free pre-selected children’s book. 2-3pm.
OUTDOOR PARKS PICK – Richardson Nature Center, Bloomington
Sat, Nov 2: Nature Arts & Crafts Fair
While you browse the artisanal wares for holiday gifts, the kids will be happily occupied with the nature center’s many kid-friendly exhibits: a puppet theater, child-sized tables and chairs for reading and puzzles, and aquariums at just the right height. Outside, if mother nature cooperates, enjoy the nature exploration area. Shop 10am-3pm, free admission.
