EARLY HOLIDAY PICKS
Rice Park Tree Lighting | St Paul
It’s officially the holiday season in the Capital City when the Christmas tree blinks on downtown. The tree has returned to the revitalized Rice Park this year! Festive, free entertainment, music, and fireworks celebrate the season. Sat, Nov 23, 4-7pm.
Note: The Wells Fargo WinterSkate ice rink has a new location this year. Head over to CHS Field for “Destination Winter” featuring free skating on WinterSkate rink (bring your own skates or rent a pair for $5. WF cardholders receive 1 free pair per card). Grand opening of the rink is Dec 6.
Bachman’s Holiday Open House | Bachman’s on Lyndale, Minneapolis
Join Bachmans in welcoming Santa and his sleigh! Visit the reindeer corral and stop by the craft counter for crafts and activities. Cookies, juice, and coffee will be served. Don’t miss the annual Santa & Albert holiday play at 10am, 11:30am, 1pm and 2:30pm. Sat, Nov 23, 9am-3pm. FREE.

SHOPPING PICKS: LOCAL GIFT FAIRS
Make it the year to shop local or choose handcrafted gifts. While we know it’s not always a festive event to bring the kids along to tackle the holiday gift list, these events keep the whole family in mind with entertainment and other diversions:
Do It Green! Minnesota’s Green Gift Fair | Midtown Global Market, Minneapolis
Eco-friendly shopping, live music, a family exploration zone & other activities. Take a break to dine at one of the 30+ ethnic food vendors. Sat, Nov 23, 10am-5pm. $1 donation/pp.
Holiday Bazaar | Historic Stillwater Courthouse
The historic building will be decorated for Christmas; enjoy live music and visits with Santa while shopping. This event kicks off Stillwater’s Hometown for the Holidays season, running through Dec 31. Nov 23 & 24, 10am-4pm. FREE.
Minnesota Waldorf School Holiday Fair | Maplewood
While parents shop, kids can enjoy lots of activities of their own, including holiday shopping in the Snow Fairy Gift Garden. Nov 23, 10am-4pm. FREE admission, fees for some activities.

Red Balloon Bookshop’s 35th Birthday Bash | St Paul
Help celebrate 35 as an independent bookseller in the Twin Cities! Trivia games, prizes, birthday cake and more. 4-6pm, FREE.
SAVINGS BEFORE THE HOLIDAY
Elf: The Musical, Jr Pay-what-you-can Day | Stages Theatre, Hopkins
The tickets (up to 6) must be reserved by calling the box office at (952) 979-1111. The day of the performance you make a donation of any amount on your way into the theater. This program strives to make theatre accessible to all families. Sun, Nov 24, 4pm show only.
