Birthday of Architect Cass Gilbert
At Home Family Fun:
Little Kids: Get out blocks and design your own buildings.
All Ages: Play a game of Jenga. If you don’t have a Jenga game, play a reverse Jenga game, taking turns adding blocks to a tower until someone makes it fall.
See some Cass Gilbert architecture up close. Examples of his work include:
- The Highland Park Water Tower
- The Minnesota State Capitol
- White Bear Town Hall
- Minneapolis Federal Reserve
- More – The Cass Gilbert Society has a full list here. Plus they have designed a couple walking tours.
It’s Tuesday, let’s be taco architects. Everyone gets to build their own taco tonight.
Dinner Conversation Starter: Fun Fact: Cass Gilbert was raised by a single mother and dropped out of high school so he could work, but became one of the most respected architects of his time.
