A new tradition this year. I am excited to tell you all about it.

Minneapolis Holiday Market

Starting Friday, November 28, 2014 you can enjoy an outdoor Christmas Market in the heart of downtown Minneapolis.  Located on Peavey Plaza, the new Minneapolis Holiday Market helps you travel to Germany without leaving the Twin Cities.

They say it best on their website.

Wander around the market with a cup of spiced Mulled wine – also typical German beer and delicious locally crafted beers! Shop the traditional goods showcased in cozily decorated cedar huts. From pastries to pottery, ginger bread to jewelry, this Holiday market features one-of-a-kind gift ideas for every person on your Holiday shopping list. Taste German beers, European bakery items, a typical Bratwurst and Swiss Raclette just to name a few. Wonderful entertainment is lined up daily from local musicians to school choirs found center stage under the pavilion. Kids can participate in the Market Scavenger Hunt and enjoy activities such as gingerbread personalizing and chocolate decorating.

It is open everyday until Christmas Eve at 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.  There is a small one-time entrance fee ($3-$6) for the season, so you can return as many times as you want throughout the month for free.

You won’t want to miss the different acts on the stage or the festive carousel.  Oh, boy!  I am so excited.

Holidazzle Village

We were all very sad last year to say goodbye to the Holidazzle parade, but alas, we do not need to be sad.  Starting Friday, November 28, we can enjoy an interactive Holidazzle experience.  Surrounding the Holiday market, Holidazzle Village is located on Nicollet Mall between 10th and 12th Streets. Each weekend day beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., you can wander through the magical village enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of the Holidazzle. All for FREE!

The Holidazzle website lets you in on the excitement.

In the Holidazzle Village, you’ll find choirs and bands performing, unique nightly events like meeting reindeer, story time for kids and more. Twinkling lights will illuminate Nicollet Mall, and you’ll have the chance to take photos with a Holidazzle float and see the iconic Holidazzle Light Bulbs.

Each weekend there are unique events for that particular weekend.

  • Nov. 28: Opening Night Fireworks (6:30 PM)
  • Dec. 6-7: Glass Blowing Demonstrations (beginning at 3:30 PM)
  • Dec. 13-14: Dog Sledding Exhibitions (beginning at 3:30 PM)
  • Dec. 20-21: Ice Skating on Nicollet Mall (beginning at 3 PM)

I can’t wait!  I think this idea is even better than the parade because you get to move around and you aren’t standing on the curb stamping your feet to keep warm.
