Last year I wrote a series of articles about navigating the Art Fairs with kids.  The following is an update of my Uptown Art Fair article.  To read all the articles in this series, click the squares below.

Powderhorn Art Fair

The Uptown Art Fair
Hennepin Avenue from 28th Street to 31st Street and “The Mall”
Friday, August 7, 2015; noon to 8:oo p.m.
Saturday, August 8, 2015; 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Sunday August 9, 2015; 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Uptown Art Fair can be the most daunting of the three fairs this weekend.  I have done it in the past.  I would not be afraid attempt the entire thing again with one well-behaved child. I would go with the umbrella stroller and keep my backpack small.  This may be an outing where we would plan to buy lunch either from one of the vendors or at one of the Uptown restaurants; but a picnic is not out of the question — there is always Lake Calhoun.

Uptown is the only art fair on Friday, so if you can swing a weekday, this may be your best day; however bus passes are not free on Friday.  If you prefer to go on Saturday, then you could ride the shuttle and pair it with Mini Golf at the Walker and the Loring Park Art Fair without overtaxing your little ones too much.

Another option is to just hit the Family Imagination Station and a few outer booths.  Northern Clay Center is once again hosting this free family activity.  Activities are different from last year, so check them out even if you did it last year.

Besides Family Fun Twin Cities, I spend my 9 to 5 at a day job pursuing my weird passion for calendars and organizing things as a legal secretary. When I get home I spend my time with my four kids, 10, 6, 4 and 1. My amazing husband is both a full-time musician and full-time stay-at-home dad. Together we run a small radio empire — SiaNet Radio — playing, promoting and enjoying the wide variety of local music and art in the Twin Cities. I juggle all this while writing about exploring the Twin Cities with kids. I couldn’t be happier.
