We Can Give Back MonthImagine this scenario.  It’s Thanksgiving morning, and you are busy getting ready. You are in up to your elbows in mashed potatoes or pumpkin pie filling.

What are some ways to get your hearts ready to give thanks?

The Hosts of the Great Give Back Challenge are excited to help you get your hearts ready for the upcoming holidays! If you haven’t been able to participate in the GGBC of 2015, here are some options for the week of Thanksgiving.

      Holiday Card Making workshop with beARTrageous to benefit Foster Art. Come on into the studio and create holiday cards with different mediums to be printed into sets of Holiday cards. A portion of the proceeds from the card sales will benefit kids in foster care.

It’s DGT’s National Family Volunteer Day Family Service Fair.  Families come together at the Midtown Global Market to do some hands-on service projects!  We are very excited to partner with Doing Good Together.  Join us to drop in whenever you are able to to make a difference with organizations like Volunteer America and  Bundles of Love.  There will be live entertainment as well.

Take some time out at the Minnesota Tranportation Museum to make a card for a kiddo who is in the hospital.  Include finger puppets or a crown or confetti.  It’s not fun to be in the hospital, and we can help make someone’s day a little happier!

Toylend USA is holding a coat drive for The Salvation Army Coats for Kids  program. In addition to being an online toys and baby gear rental service, we want to make sure children’s basic needs are taken care of, especially  for those who are in need. Please considering supporting Toylend USA’s  charitable efforts.

How to make a donation?

Step One
You pledge to donate new or gently-used coats and winter accessories by emailing us at toylendusa@gmail.com. You can use “Coats for Kids” in the  subject line.

Step Two
Toylend USA will send an employee to collect your donations on Saturday, November 21 & Sunday, November 22. You don’t need to be at home. You can leave your donations at your front door. We will leave you a small gift from Toylend USA.

Anyone over the age of 5 can pack food for hungry kids with Feed My Starving Children. Sign up to pack food with FFTC at the Coon Rapids location.

If you have little ones younger than 5, let me know ASAP so I can make child care arrangements at the Packing Site!

Activity:  We will be making “breakfast bags” for Ronald McDonald House Upper Midwest.  These are bags filled with food items a family can easily grab on their way to the hospital to have something to snack on at the hospital during the day.  We are asking people to bring granola bars, apple sauce, chips and more — and to help us decorate the bags with your family at kiddywampus.  This is a very family-friendly way to give back!
