Things to do in Minneapolis-St Paul this weekend!
March 1-2, 2019
As the snow piles up and the temps crash, we’re encouraging you to stay indoors this weekend and hunker down with crafts, a kids film festival and other indoor activities. For more inspiration, check our March Family Guide or our Family Fun Calendar.

ArtScraps | St Paul
Offers: The ArtScraps Reuse store is a little treasure trove of crafting materials you can browse and purchase for a fraction of what you’d spend at a chain craft store. Take your haul home and get creative!
Sat, Mar 2: First Free Saturday: Kids Film Fair | Walker Art Center, Minneapolis
It’s not always easy to enjoy art with little ones (or grade schoolers or tweens, for that matter), but Walker attempts to make it a more inclusive experience during their First Free Saturdays. The museum buzzes with art-making workshops, kid films, scavenger hunts in the galleries and live performances that stretch young attention spans and might spark conversation about the art.10am-3pm, FREE.
WITH SCIENCE EXPERIMENTS
Sat, Mar 2: First Saturday Science: Beyond the Universe | Metro State University, St Paul
The first Saturday of each month, kids explore a specific scientific field in a hands-on lab setting. March features planets, stars, galaxies, and dust clouds. Meet in the Jason R. Carter Science Education Center, Room 118. 12-2pm, FREE.
WITH A DANCE-OFF
Sun, Mar 3: Kids Dance Party | Can Can Wonderland, St Paul
Every first Sunday of the month, the playful indoor miniature golf venue heats up the links just for the youngest ones with a free Kids Dance Party! The tunes will spin 10-11:30am. If you’re interested in golfing, each artist-designed hole is a blast to play through ($10-$14/pp). Just note that weekends can bring a significant wait in line to snag a tee time.
DREAMING OF SPRING
Sat, Mar 2 & Sun, Mar 3: Kids Weekend | Cabelas, Rogers
Even if you’re not in the market for an outfitter, who knows what kind of family fun you might take away? Come for the free activities: a fishpond, crafts, giveaways and a kids workshop. March 2, 12-5pm & March 3, 12-4pm.
