St. Paul is sparkling with holiday fun this weekend! Read on for details on where to see the lights, the opening of a new Christmas Market in downtown, and where to drop the kids if you need to get your shopping done.
Holiday Lights in the Park
at Phalen Park
1615 Phalen Drive East, St. Paul
Dates: November 25 – January 1, 2015 • 5:30 – 10pm nightly
Cost: $8/online, $10/gate (per standard vehicle) or free with purchase of “Holiday Lights Vol. 6” ($10 at Kowalskis)
Details: Phalen Park twinkles with more than 60 light sculptures and animated displays. Expect to spend about 20 minutes driving along the half-mile trail and be prepared to wait in a short line to enter the park if you plan to visit on the weekend. All net proceeds from the event are earmarked for charity or will go back into the community – another great reason to enjoy the light show.
“Drop & Shop”
at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory

Dates: November 28 & December 13, 2014 • 9am – 1:30pm
Cost: $35/per child (family discounts available)
Ages: 3 years and up, must be toilet trained
Details: Need to get some holiday power shopping done? Drop the kids at Como for a half-day of games, crafts, animal encounters and a scavenger hunt while you’re out playing Santa. Pack a lunch or purchase one for $7. Space is limited, so register early at 651-487-8272.
European Christmas Market
West 7th Place between St. Peter Street & Wabasha, Saint Paul
Dates: Nov. 28 • 2 – 9pm, Nov. 29 • 10am – 9pm & Nov. 30 • 10am – 3pm
Cost: Free admission
Details: Styled after the outdoor holiday markets of Europe, local vendors will hawk their handicrafts and special food, German beer and wine will be available for purchase. This might also make a nice date night!

Date: November 29 • 4 – 10pm
Cost: Free, including free open skating
Details: The Choo Choo Bob Band will get the party started at 4:30pm, followed by the magical Rice Park Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5pm, skating demos and then a chance for families to skate. Get the full lineup of activities here.
