If we’re choosing to live in Minnesota, we may as well make the most of its winters, right? This weekend is FULL of FREE ways to get outside with your family and enjoy the cold season. And if you’re just not having any of it, our Family Fun Calendar has plenty of ways to stay cozily entertained indoors.

Saturday, January 31

8th Annual Art Sled Rally
@ Powderhorn Park
3400 15th Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55407

Hours: 2 – 4pm
Details: Come watch outrageously creative “art sleds” take to the sledding hill in Powderhorn Park at the 8th Annual Art Sled Rally.

Bundled Up! 2015 Winter Fun Day
@ Oak Hill Park
3201 Rhode Island Ave. S., St. Louis Park, MN 55426

Hours: 12 – 4pm
Details: Outdoor family fun includes skating, cross-country skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, a bonfire, and many more ways to get out and enjoy the winter weather. All activities are free, no registration is required, please bring your own equipment.

Winter Carnival Family Day
@ Landmark Center
75 5th St, Saint Paul, MN 55102

Hours: 12 – 5pm
Details: Ongoing entertainment for all ages will be taking place all afternoon in Landmark Center if you’re enjoying the Winter Carnival events in Rice Park and want to get out of the cold. Bring your skates and take a whirl on on the Wells Fargo WinterSkate rink outside (skate rental $4 or free for Wells Fargo customers).

Sunday, February 1

Free Family Fun Day: Snow Forts
@ Carl Kroening Interpretive Center, North Mississippi Regional Park
4900 Mississippi Ct., Minneapolis, MN 55430

Hours: 1 – 3pm
Details: Drop in for a different hands-on activity each Sunday. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Winter Family Festival
@ Wesley Park
8305 Wesley Drive, Golden Valley, MN 55427

Hours: 1 – 4pm
Details: Enjoy sledding, hot chocolate, ice skating and hayrides in the northern part of Wesley Park, Golden Valley.
