Family Fun Twin Cities was given the wonderful opportunity to ask Leah Wong–vice president events and marketing with the Minneapolis Downtown Council–some questions about Holidazzle Village featuring the Minneapolis Holiday Market. If you want to know more about it, keep reading.
(This weekend may be the perfect opportunity to check it out)
1. How did the idea of the Holiday Market come about?
The Holidazzle Village featuring the Minneapolis Holiday Market is an event that coincides perfectly with
the Minneapolis Downtown Council’s Downtown 2025 Plan. One of the main initiatives of the 2025 Plan
is to create a consistently compelling downtown experience. As we continue to move towards this goal
we wanted a way to not only engage families and downtown visitors, but also a way to better engage
downtown employees and the growing number of downtown residents. The great thing about this
Holidazzle experience is that it’s participatory and really engaging. Holidazzle goers will be able to
create their own, unique experience and it will be different every time they come between November
28th and December 24th. There are so many great things to explore, and it’s exciting to think about the
opportunities families and friends have to enjoy together.
2. What can people expect to enjoy? (some specific entertainers and foods and vendors)
Holidazzle Village featuring the Minneapolis Holiday Market provides a great opportunity for people of
all ages to interact and enjoy the holiday season.
- try new foods and drinks
- shop for theholidays at unique craft vendors
- listen to musical performances
- see dog sledding exhibitions
- enjoy a pop-up ice rink
- see live reindeer
- take in a story time with their kids
- ride a carousel
- and much more.
There are so many delicious foods to enjoy at the Minneapolis Holiday Market, where do we begin?
Locally, the apple strudels and pastries from Minnesota Harvest, the croissants and baked goods from
Solomon’s Bake Shop and the soups from Venus Gourmet Soups are fantastic.
You’ll definitely want to try the Kartoffelhaus Potato Pancakes and German candies from Cändy Meister.
There are two types of mulled wines on site, and the Leckerlee Lebkuchen is a German treat that is especially popular in
European-style holiday markets.
Performance-wise, we’ll have bands and choirs from Minneapolis and around the Metro area performing.
3. How does the Market help local business?
Holidazzle Village featuring Minneapolis Holiday Market is a great place for people to gather during the
holidays. And while they’re gathering right here in the heart of downtown, they’ll have the opportunity
to take in all the great activities, restaurants and shopping. As we continue to work with local businesses
one of the most common themes we hear is that activation at street level is one of the best ways to
drive business and traffic through their stores and establishments.
Holidazzle Village featuring Minneapolis Holiday Market will do just that as it provides different activities throughout our 27-day run from Nov. 28-Dec. 24. We encourage you and yours to come down multiple times to take in the fun, as each days experience will be different, which includes the Holidazzle experience as well as all the places to shop, dine, stay and explore in downtown. Visit Holidazzle.com for a full schedule of events and to help you plan your trip.
4. What should families try to make sure they do when visiting? What are some of the not to be
Families should certainly visit the Holidazzle Reindeer Barn featuring live reindeer and enjoy story time
at the Holidazzle Stage with stories that come to life through dance. These are presented each weekend
and feature the stories of The Velveteen Rabbit and Nutcracker.
Children will also enjoy the carousel in the Minneapolis Holiday Market.
On Dec. 6-7, there will be live glass blowing demonstrations on Nicollet Mall, and on Dec. 13-14 you won’t want to miss the live dog sled exhibition taking place.
Our final weekend will feature a pop-up ice rink on Dec.20th and 21st, this is sure to be a great family activity at Holidazzle! We love your dogs, but like most markets, pets are not permitted inside the Minneapolis Holiday Market
at Peavey Plaza. Along Holidazzle Village, on Nicollet Mall, we follow the pet guidelines set forth by the
City of Minneapolis.
6. What is the exact price breakdown?
