free listIt’s MLK Weekend which means a long weekend.  With the temperatures predicted to plummet drastically, we looked for some indoor activities this weekend with one exception for MLK Day itself. We have just under 10 ideas for your family.

Located in the waiting room, join the community in stretching and breathing.  Lots of breathing.  This is good for ages 10+.

Dr. Entomo’s Palace of Exotic Wonders Opening Weekend
Como Zoo and Conservatory
1225 Estabrook Drive, Saint Paul
10am-4 pm
Get your gross on at this old-fashioned circus-sideshow inspired exhibit. Learn everything you can about millipedes, centipedes and other creepy crawlies.  This exhibit has toured across the US and is exclusively at Como.  There are lots of extra fun activities to enjoy during this opening weekend.

Cheryl Blackford’s Lizzie and the Lost Baby Book Launch Party

Cheryl Blackford’s new book is her first for middle grade readers. It’s a tale set during World War II.  This is a great way to introduce history to our young readers.  Parties at Red Balloon are incredible.  You won’t want to miss this.

It’s a new picture book about a worm loving a worm.  See what happens when they get married!  It’s a party weekend at Red Balloon.

3 p.m. Concert
Introduce your kids to historical culture by taking them to the symphony! Activities begin at 2 p.m. with the concert following at 3:00.

This is a very popular event, so be ready for a large crowd.  But getting into the Children’s Museum for free?  That’s great!

Come listen to Lucy Michelle who I know NOTHING about.  So decide for yourself with this sample of her music.

Tess SnowmanSnowman Making Contest and Roe Family Singers

1 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
Create a snowman, snow creature with help from the woods.  Certificates will be handed out after 3:30.  Hang out and roast marshmallows and listen to the Roe Family Singers.
