The Rice and Arlington Batting Cages facility is located on the corner of Rice Street and Arlington Avenue in St. Paul. Tokens can be purchased for as low as $2.00 for $22 balls. Four pitching stations are equipped for baseball and softball at various speeds from 40 mph to 70 mph.

In 2022, the city installed new netting systems in the batting cages and the turf room.

There is also an indoor turf room, an outdoor turf field (temporarily unavailable until further notice).

Saint Paul youth who bring a student ID or proof of residency can purchase tokens for $1.00. For everyone else prices are as follows:

  • 1 Token: $2.00 (22 balls)
  • 5 Tokens: $9.00
  • 10 Tokens: $17.00
  • Pinch Hitters Card: 22 tokens for $35.00
  • On Deck Hitters Card: 40 tokens for $60.00
  • Homerun Hitters Card: 80 tokens for $110.00

Turf Room at Rice and Arlington Batting Cages

If you would also like to practice other baseball skills, there is a multi-purpose turf room that can be used when not reserved. Non-exclusive use costs $4/person/hour. The room is not exclusive to baseball/softball practice. It can also be used to practice other sports.

Exclusive Use Rates

Cages can be rented for exclusive use, but a reservation is required a day or more in advance and they are not available during peek weekend hours (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) from February through May. Prices start at $25 per half hour or $45 for a full hour. The turf room costs $25/hour for exclusive use and can be used for practices, meetings or parties. Upon request, the park can provide batting tees, hitting and pitching nets, a baseball pitching mound, baseballs, softballs, and whiffle balls. Call for availability.
