Mischief Toy Store is a toy store for bigger kids and teens and the creation of Millie Adelsheim and Dan Marshall. In 2015, the couple opened Mischief after closing Peapods Natural Toys & Baby Care, St. Paul’s alternative toy and baby store, which they had run for over 16 years.  In 2021, Millie and Dan’s daughter, Abigail (who grew up with Peapods and then Mischief), officially joined the family business as co-owner.

The store often hosts big kid events, like Friday night Magic: The Gathering games. Follow the toy store on Facebook to receive notice of upcoming events.

New Beginnings

At the State Fair, I ran into Jeff Freeland Nelson (of our favorite toys YOXO–I think I’m going to call him Jeff YOXO from now on). I mentioned that I was so disappointed that Dan Marshall and Millie Adelsheim had closed Peapods earlier in the summer.

Jeff looked me right in the eyes and said, “They are opening a new toy store!  I think they are going to call it Mystique or something like that.”

“What! Are you serious?”

I couldn’t believe it.  But it’s true.  All except the name of the store.

Introducing Mischief Toy Store!

The kids are growing up, but they are still kids. Dan and Millie has closed the doors to the babywearing and natural baby gear stage of life. They still LOVE it, but instead they have redirected their focus to an older age: middle grades through adulthood. These are toys for everyone that are not attached to electronics.

I take that back. There is an electronic section. Make your own radio kits and such.

As far as phones and video games and devices, you won’t find those at Mischief. It’s all about creating a little mischief and mayhem, getting the family together around discovery and fun. Or chilling out on an amazing hammock. (How do you say hammock?  HAM mic or ham MOCK)

At Mischief, you will find books and art supplies. You will find YOXO and BEKA blocks. Looking for Totoro? They got a plethora to choose from as well as Adventure Time gear.

They have the best scooters for young to old and board games. Wanna have some cool gagdets for camping or hiking?  You’ve come to the rite place.

Dan and Millie even have a small table full of Peapods-flavored toys. This small toy boutique is really designed for young and old alike.

When you walk into Mischief, you are surrounded by brightly colored walls and cool lighting. The atmosphere is a little more mature though just barely. But really, Dan and Millie are the same and that’s what matters.
