History Center: Current exhibits\nNo dry discourse or "hands off" signage
here\; the Minnesota History Center does a phenomenal job of appealing to
all ages through its highly interactive and entertaining exhibits. You wi
ll have no problem at all finding plenty to intrigue your kids -- and whil
e they are being amused\, you'll probably find yourself being playful righ
t alongside them. \n\nMINNESOTA'S GREATEST GENERATION Explores the experi
ences of those who lived through such defining eras as the Great Depressio
n and World War 2. Kids can travel back to the 1930s and '40s\, playing at
being soda jerks at an old-school drugstore\, watching movie clips at the
theater\, packing war materials on an assembly line and for those up to i
t even experiencing an intense simulated flight on D-Day.\n\nThe THEN NOW
WOW exhibit playfully captures "WOW" moments in Minnesota history - my kid
s have enjoyed hunkering down in the prairie sod house during a storm\, ba
rtering at the fur post\, riding a streetcar through bygone St Paul and wo
rking in an iron ore mine.\n\nWEATHER PERMITTING may be for older kids as
it allows you to safely experience what it may have been like taking shel
ter during a massive tornado that hit the community of Fridley in 1965.\n\
n\nMore information\n\n Additional information about free Thursday nights
is posted on the Minnesota History Center website.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n&nbsp\;\n
