I wanted to share this on Monday — when there was still time to get to the first one — unfortunately its been a busy week for me at work.  However, I still think this is one of the coolest free library activities I’ve seen for awhile.  The Dress Up and Boogie Down Family Summer Music Series started Tuesday, but you have 5 more chances to get there this summer.  The following is the list of bands playing and the corresponding dress up suggestion.

This Concert series is a free, outdoor series being held at the Arlington Hills Community Center.  Besides the chance to see several of the best local family-friendly bands, you are also encouraged to dress up and dance. If you don’t want to dance the whole time, bring a lawn chair or blanket.  Bring a picnic or buy some snacks from The Sizzling Wagon food truck. In addition to the concert, there will be family friendly activities.  Dress code and featured bands:

July 8  wear crazy hats and listen to the Bunny Clogs

July 15 – wear crazy hair and listen to the Maroons

July 22 – wear crazy shirts and listen to Tres Mundos

July 29 – wear crazy pants and listen to Lucy Michelle

August 5 – wear crazy shoes/socks and listen to Koo Koo Kanga Roo

August 12 – wear crazy outfits and listen to Ticket to Brasil

In the event of rain, events will be moved inside.

Besides Family Fun Twin Cities, I spend my 9 to 5 at a day job pursuing my weird passion for calendars and organizing things as a legal secretary. When I get home I spend my time with my four kids, 10, 6, 4 and 1. My amazing husband is both a full-time musician and full-time stay-at-home dad. Together we run a small radio empire — SiaNet Radio — playing, promoting and enjoying the wide variety of local music and art in the Twin Cities. I juggle all this while writing about exploring the Twin Cities with kids. I couldn’t be happier.
