Parade Ice Garden is an indoor rink located in Parade Park in Minneapolis. It offers year-round indoor ice skating and often special open skate hours during school release days, such as MEA, winter break and spring break. Built in 1973, the Parade Ice Center was one of several important citywide facilities established or enhanced during the 1970s building boom. The construction of several suburban indoor artificial ice rinks had changed the sport of hockey in the metro area from an outdoor game to an indoor one, prompting the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board to investigate the possibilities for an indoor rink within the city. Initially three sites were outlined including locations in northeast, central and south Minneapolis. Find monthly schedules for open skate and on the MPRB website for the most up-to-date information. Admission is $4 for ages 5+ and $3 for Seniors (4 and under FREE). Skate rental is an additional $3. Beginners can also rent skating aids for $3. The rink also offers open hockey and stick and puck times. Find more information on the Minneapolis Park’s website. In winter months Minneapolis parks offer free outdoor skating at these parks. The main rink and the studio rink are both available to be rented by the hour. We keep updated prices and rental information in our annual birthday party guide. Find more information on the Rentals & Permits tab of MPRB’s rink page.Related Articles:
