Keewaydin Park offers family friendly amenities including a newly updated adventure playground with a bouldering structure and zipline, one of the last round wading pools in Minneapolis Parks, and a picnic area. There is also a drinking fountain and restroom facilities. The park also offers a walking path and sports fields.

Keewaydin Park Wading Pool

Keewaydin shares property with the school of the same name; therefore, its wading pool opens after school releases and closes before school starts in the fall. The pool is one of the last remaining round wading pools.

Keewaydin Recreation Center

The recreation center offers a community kitchen, a craft room, a couple meeting/multi-purpose rooms and a computer lab. This is not one of the air-conditioned facilities.

Birthday Parties at Keewaydin

Rooms in the rec center can be rented for birthday parties and other private events. See the MPRB website for permit requirements and special use fees.

The New Keewaydin Playground

Keewaydin’s new adventure play area was finished during the summer of 2023. Features include:

  • A climbing/bouldering area with stacked boulder hills, walls and free standing boulder monliths!
  • A zip line;
  • A nature-based play area surrounded by native plantings
  • More traditional playgrounds geared to tots ages 2-5 and grade school kids ages 5-12; both will have “adventure towers” to inspire imaginative play;
  • A sand-play area with slides, basket swing and spinner; and
  • Picnic areas and seating.
