Family Fun Directory of Things To Do with Kids:
Father Hennepin Bluff Park offers direct access to footpaths and bridges that display a unique view of the Mississippi Gorge, the downtown skyline, and the Stone Arch Bridge - as well as music and movies weekly in the summer. This park is the site of the annual Stone Arch Bridge Festival, Red, White and Boom, and the Owámni Falling Water Festival.
Although this park does not have any playground equipment, resourceful children have found sand to play in and there are plenty of trails near the river to explore as a family.
Fairy Abode Hunting at Father Hennepin Bluff Park
We enjoy walking the trails and seeking out places we think must house fairies or other magical creatures.
Food Truck Tuesdays
On summer Tuesdays, try out local cuisine from a food truck while enjoying the music and movie offerings. Food trucks arrive at 7:00 -- just in time for the music.
Music & Movies Line Up at Father Hennepin Bluff Park
The concerts start at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday nights unless otherwise noted. Movies start around dusk on Tuesday nights, but it is a good idea to arrive early for a good spot. This park is a good picnic location and the music will be performed at 7:00 p.m. Most of these movies are not great for family films, however, its been our experience that the kids can't stay awake for dusk movies, so we bring blankets and sleeping bags and the kids "camp out". Please check the Minneapolis Music & Movies in the Park website for the lineup and most recent information.
