Eden Prairie Art Center offers fun family-friendly resources for families, including classes, camps and workshops, preschool story times, open studio times for all ages, and kid-friendly galleries with ongoing art exhibits.

The mission of the Eden Prairie Art Center is to enhance the quality of life and foster creativity in the community by providing access to the arts for people of all ages and abilities. It offers open studio time available for a small fee, but only for people who have taken at least one class at the art center. Classes include popular arts like clay and ceramics, preschool art programs, summer camps and one-day collaboration art projects for the whole family.

Early Childhood Art Appreciation with
Art on City Walls

Art on City Walls is an ongoing exhibit at the Art Center that has been featuring artwork from local and regional artists for over 35 years. Exhibits change every six weeks and range from photography and paintings to murals and collages are considered for the exhibit cover a range of art forms. All exhibits are free and open to the public on weekdays during regular art center.

We find one of the best benefits of these small art center gallery exhibits is that they are an excellent way to begin introducing art to toddler and preschool-aged children. The exhibits are free and open to the public, there is free onsite parking and it is quiet on weekdays. You can feel free to drop in and stay as long or as short of a time as your child shows an interest.

Rotating Public Art at Eden Prairie Art Center and Other Public Spaces

The art center often participates in Eden Prairie’s rotating public art program, which is intended to help foster an appreciation for public art while adding to the aesthetic beauty of the site. The program features different Minnesota artists each year.

Visiting public art is another great way to help kids develop an interest in art that can be a lot of fun. Combine short visits to these installations with a park time or other family fun activities, so you don’t overload them but they get a chance to appreciate the pieces.

Birthday Parties at Eden Prairie Art Center

Birthday Parties for up to 15 children include an art instructor and assistant to lead a 90-minute program followed by 30 minutes of parent-led time in your private party room for you to serve cake, treats and/or open presents. Parties are designed for ages 5 to 12.

Group Outings for Kids are also available and could make fun birthday parties. These outings are for 10+ children and are priced per child with. Groups can choose between themes, such as art, nature and recreation. Projects can include pottery classes, fiber art classes, drawing or painting workshops, or even glass/mixed-media projects.

Summer Camp at Eden Prairie Art Center

The Art Center offers summer camps for kids between the ages of 6 and 15 in a variety of media, including clay, fused glass, public art and much of the same options as birthday parties. Learn more about current and upcoming camps in our annual summer camp guide.
