Dayton’s Bluff Recreation Center’s amenities include an outdoor playground, a gym, game room, sports fields, a theater and dance studio. In 2023, the City of St. Paul is in the process of planning a skate park for this location. In 2022, the City of St. Paul built a new play area at the rec center to provide high quality spaces to for unstructured free play. Playground features include a tot lot structure for ages 2-5 and a separate playground structure for bigger kids (approximately 5-12). It also includes swings, spinners, shade structures and picnic tables. Saint Paul installed a seasonal Skate Park in the spring of 2022. At the same time that park staff felt the park’s tennis courts were underutilized, they also saw a need for a skate park. In a partnership with City of Skate, and utilizing recycled materials, Dayton’s Bluff has installed a low-cost, creative and eco-friendly skate park in place of the tennis courts. A new modern computer facility was installed at this location in 2018. Community members can use the lab to develop computer literacy and skills. Other rec centers with modernized computer labs include Martin Luther King Recreation Center, El Rio Vista Recreation Center, and Jimmy Lee Recreation Center. Hazel Park Recreation Center and Rice Recreation Center Teen Zone will be updated in 2019. St. Paul Parks and Recreation will also host trainings in these recreation centers Some Saint Paul Parks provides free summer meals at recreation centers for youth 18 years of age and under.
