Cedar Avenue Field Park is a small park in East Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis. Family friendly amenities include a playground with separate tot space and space for picnicking with a grill and drinking fountain. There is also a half-court basketball court. 1. Play a Game of HORSE. The basketball half-court has two different hoop level and is ideal for practicing shots. Bring a ball and enjoy a family game.
2. Have a Picnic or Grill Out. There are picnic tables and plenty of green space for an impromptu picnic. Or bring charcoal and have a grilled lunch.
3. Relax While the kids Play. The resilient surface and small tot lot is ideal for independent play for even the smallest toddlers, but older grade school children will find the bigger playground equipment fun and challenging enough.

Cedar Avenue Field Park Playground

The sand of the playground was recently replaced with a resilient poured-in-place rubber surface. The current play structure is standard playground equipment made with plastic and steel, but is due to be updated when funding becomes available.

Renovations at Cedar Avenue Field Park

Besides the new surfacing of the playground, the parks department has moved and replaced the picnic area (grill and picnic tables) to the east side of the park, near Cedar Avenue. 

More improvements will be made as funding becomes available, including updating the existing play structure, updating sports courts and fields, adding an interactive water play area, building a skate park and creating gathering spaces – outdoor and sheltered.
