Augsburg Park, Richfield
Augsburg Park is the site of Richfield Skate Park. It also has two playgrounds, walking paths, a pond and ice rinks in the winter. Richfield Community Center and Augsburg Park Branch of Hennepin County Library are also located in this park. The park is next to Richfield High School and houses its football field, running track and tennis courts. There are public tennis courts on the other side of the park. The pond in the center of the park provides a space for wildlife. You'll almost definitely see geese, maybe turkeys?
Augsburg Skate Park
The Richfield Skate Park is a tier one skate park and is free to use for skateboarders of all ages. The park was designed to resemble a streetscape. It is open during daylight hours. See a video of the park in action the City of Richfield created below.
Augsburg Playground
The playground is large and colorful and well-shaded by mature trees. The floor of the playground is sand. The playground itself is really standard, but the setting makes it a beautiful and peaceful place to visit.
Birthday Parties at Augsburg Park
This park has two shelters which can be rented for birthday parties. One is closer to the playground while the other is closer to the concert area. Both shelters have charcoal grills, but no electricity. Rental are for 4-hour block, and price is dependant on residency.
Summer Meals at Augsburg Park
This park traditionally participates in Richfield's Summer Meals Program. This park offers lunch from noon to 12:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday to anyone under the age of 18. The program runs mid June to late July and is served inside the Richfield Community Center.
Ice Skating in the Winter
In the winter, Richfield maintains both a pleasure rink and a hockey rink at Augsburg. This park does not offer a warming house. Rinks are lighted until 9 p.m. Ice availability is dependent on weather. Call the Cancellation Hotline at 612-861-9189, ext. #2 for up-to-date rink cancellations.
