Hall Park is part of the Near North neighborhood, divided into two sections and connected by a pedestrian bridge. It features a tot lot playground, walking paths, grills and a basketball court. In October of 2023, MPRB completed updates that included a new and expanded playground (with pollinator-friendly borders), new paths and lighting, and added picnic tables, benches and a grill. They also installed a bike skills course that incorporates a bike-able sculpture. Sidewalk murals created by local students guide visitors through the park.

Ideas for Family Fun at Hall Park

  1. Play on the new, expanded playground. Found on the west side of the park, this playground offers plenty of open space for running as well as equipment for climbing, sliding and swinging. The playground includes two areas– colorful and developmentally appropriate equipment for children ages 2-5 and equipment for ages 5-12 with climbing, balancing and upper body strengthening aspects.
  2. Walk the park paths, looking for sidewalk murals that highlight the parks’ pollinator-friendly features.
  3. Pack a Picnic. You can even pack food to grill.
  4. Bring your bikes and try out the new bikes skills course on the east side of the park. The training track has both boardwalk-style and dirt paths as well as as the bike-able sculpture incorporated into the skills course.
Need to do some quick repairs? The bike park features a small repair center near the bike racks.
  5. Splash in the Wading Pool in the summer months.

Hall Park Wading Pool

Because this park is across the street from Elizabeth Hall School and Franklin Middle School, its wading pool opens after school releases in early June and closes before school resumes in late August. There are no lifeguards on duty at Minneapolis wading pools. Summer pool hours are 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. MPRB plans to install a shade structure in time for the summer 2024 season.
