Santa Sightings

Where will Jolly Old St Nick be visiting this weekend? Somehow he manages to be all over the Twin Cities! Take your pick from shopping malls, community festivals and even a streetcar decked out for Christmas. For further planning, check our Twin Cities Santa-finder page.

All Weekend – Saturday, December 14 & Sunday, December 15

Meet Santa at Holidazzle | Loring Park, Minneapolis
Visiting with Santa is just one of the many fun and free activities at the annual festival. Santa will be on site all weekend for photo opps. Bring your wish list! Fri 5-10pm, Sat 11am-10pm & Sun 11am-7pm.

Santa & Albert’s Holiday Play and Sing Along | Bachman’s
Bachman’s Annual Christmas Play is free and fun for all ages. Join in caroling after the play; Santa and Albert will be available for photos. Sat: 10am, 11:30am, 1pm, 2:30pm & Sun: 11:30, 1:00, 2:30pm.

Santa’s Train Shop | Minnesota Transportation Museum, St Paul
The museum transforms into Santa’s Train Shop with live music, activities, train rides, pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Weekends 10am-4pm, $7-$13/pp.

SATURDAY – December 14

Santa at the Farmers Market | Minnetonka Farmers Market
Shop local vendors for your holiday gift needs, visit with Santa from 10am-noon and enjoy live holiday music. 9am-1pm.

Santa and Pancake Brunch | Painter Park, Minneapolis
Santa, arts and crafts, and a pancake brunch. 10am-12pm. $5/pp, pre-register.

Santa Brunch | Audubon Park, Minneapolis
Breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit and beverages. Make graham cracker gingerbread houses and get a photo with Santa. 10am-12pm. $7/pre-registered participant, $10/door.

Santa and Live Reindeer Visits | Twin Cities Premium Outlets, Eagan
You may pet the reindeer and take pictures with them and Santa. 10am-12pm, FREE.

Prepare for Santa’s Arrival w/ Mrs. Claus | Eagle Valley Golf, Woodbury
Spend the morning learning and preparing for The Big Guy’s arrival. Mrs. Claus and her helpers will have activities and an interactive story. Ages 2+ with an adult. $8/child. Pre-registration required.

Sensory-Friendly Santa | Fraser, Woodbury
The day will include photo sessions with Santa, crafts, games and snacks. Miss Gimli the therapy tortoise will be attending! 10am-2pm FREE. Please RSVP so everyone gets time with Santa.

Santa Visit | Valley West Shopping Center, Bloomington
Horse-drawn trolley rides, face painting, balloon animals, treats, and Kidsdance. Kids can also create their own holiday decorations and decorate cookies
. 11am-2pm, FREE.

Santa at the Farmers Market | Minnetonka Farmers Market
Also, enjoy live music, vendors and crafters. 10am-12pm, FREE.

Breakfast with Santa | The Rec Center Banquet Room, St. Louis Park
Breakfast with Santa, kids vision screening. and vendor fair. Bring a toy or food donation and a camera for pictures  All Ages; 8am-11am. Under 2: Free; Age 3–9: $4; 10+: $5. Registration required.

SUNDAY – December 15

Santa’s Workshop | Landmark Center, St. Paul
Snap pics with Santa, meet a pair of his reindeer, play games and made some handmade holiday gifts at the craft tables. 1-3pm, FREE.

Babies & Brews Santa Visit | Lake Monster
Join Do Good Diapers for another Babies & Brews event. Meet Santa and decorate cookies. 2-4pm, FREE, but please RSVP at the link.

Skating With Santa (PDF) | Apple Valley Sports Arena
Santa will be at the Open Skate session. Free apple cider and treats, holiday music and face painting. 3:30-5pm. $5/pp at the door, skate rental $3.

Santa at the Market | Midtown Global Market
Shop the unique vendors and visit Santa Joe in the Central Plaza. 1-4pm.

SATURDAY, December 14

Christmas in Excelsior
After you’ve done your shopping and dropped off your list with Santa (10am-2pm), take a wagon ride (12-4pm) and indulge at the hot cocoa bar.

Winterfest | White Bear Lake
Horse drawn trolley rides, photos with Santa, carolers and shopping.

North St. Paul Holiday Hop
City-wide holiday activities. 9am-3pm, most activities are FREE.

All Weekend – Saturday, December 14 & Sunday, December 15

Christmas in the Village | Dakota City Heritage Village, Farmington
Dickens’ A Christmas Carol comes to life in the village with a horse-drawn trolley, caroling, holiday cooking, demonstrations, a visit with St. Nicholas and other turn-of-the-century traditions. 1-8pm, Sat & Sun. $4-$7/pp.

Christmas on the Farm Tour | Oliver Kelley Farm, Elk River
Learn how the farm families celebrated the holiday season and dealt with cold temps, visit the animals, take a wagon ride and warm up with treats and refreshments. Tours 1:30-3pm & 3:30-5pm. $15/pp, 5 & under free.

An “Eventually” Christmas Holiday at the Mill | Mill City Museum, Minneapolis
A Christmas play based on a 1920 Washburn Crosby holiday party. Recommended for ages 8+. $16-$20/pp. Learn about the super family-friendly Mill City Museum and why it’s a top Twin Cities museum for kids!

SATURDAY – December 14

Minnesota Youth Symphonies’ Playathon | Rosedale Shopping Center, Roseville
See Minnesota’s Premiere Youth Orchestras each play a holiday and entertainment selection.  Noon-4:00 pm, FREE

Santa Night at Night Trains | Twin City Model Railroad Museum, St Paul
Night Trains runs every Saturday night through February, but on these two nights only, you can visit with Santa. 6-9pm. $15/pp, family rates available.

Candy Cane Hunt | Silverwood Park, St Anthony
Candy cane hunts divided by age; horse-drawn wagon ride, warm treats, arts, and photos with Santa. There are typically handmade, local gifts on sale in the visitor’s center (which also includes an art gallery) if you need to do some shopping. 1-4pm, $6/pp.

SUNDAY – December 15

Christmas at the Pond House | Pond-Dakota Mission Park, Bloomington
Join costumed re-enactors at the historic Pond House, sing carols around the pump organ, read the Christmas story, and Rev. Pond will present excerpts from his 1862 Christmas sermon. Enjoy refreshments by the fireplace and make angel ornaments. 2-4pm, suggested donation $2/pp.

Holidazzle | Loring Park, Minneapolis
Holidazzle offers free admission to all, vendors, activities, food, visits with Santa, outdoor movies, sleighrides and fireworks. Loring Park is also home to Minneapolis WinterSkate and hosts free skating (and loaner skates) throughout the winter. Festival runs Thurs 5-9pm, Fri 5-10pm, Sat 11am-10pm & Sun 11am-7pm.

A Victorian Christmas | Alexander Ramsey House, St Paul
See, hear and taste a Victorian Christmas during this holiday guided tour. There are homemade cookies in the kitchen, holiday music of the era on the piano, and original family decorations. Weekends, Nov 29-Dec 29, $8-$12/pp.

Christmas Saturdays for Families | James J Hill House, St Paul 
Take a self-guided Christmas tour of the historic mansion. May be the better option for families with kids who’d like to tour at their own pace. Saturdays, 10am-5pm. $6-$10/pp.

Christmas Traditions Guided House Tour | James J Hill House  
Learn about the holiday celebrations held along historic Summit Avenue. Tours run 60 minutes. (There is also a self-guided option every Saturday $6-$10/pp). Nov 27-Dec 29, $8-$12/pp.

Gingerbread Wonderland | Norway House, Minneapolis
A signature holiday tradition, Gingerbread Wonderland returns for its 5th Anniversary. Nov 15, 2019 – Jan 5, 2020. $5/pp kids FREE.
