Should you be looking for last-minute inspiration on how to spend your Saturday with the family (as long as the rain holds off), let me quick suggest the 17th annual Art & Artists Celebration at Franconia Sculpture Park. Located about an hour’s drive from the Twin Cities, the funky art park has been a stop for our family en route to Taylors Falls and the beautiful St. Croix River Valley.

From the looks of this year’s event flyer, there’s even more going down at the Artists Festival than we enjoyed last year! Notably: a family activity tent w/ spin art and bubble makers, art-making activities with Public Art St. Paul, a creative-writing workshop, nature activities with rangers from the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway and more.

Make sure not to miss exploring the reason for such celebrating – the dozens of intriguing sculptures that dot the 20-acre space, each crafted by a current or previous resident artist of the Franconia community. These inspired sculptures are truly the heart of the park. Plus, it’s art you can touch! And in some cases, run through, climb over, and swing on! In short, it’s art that’s extra kid-pleasing.
