Based on the classic comic strip, Little Orphan Annie, “Annie Jr.” tells the story of orphans trying to make it in depression-era New York City.  Surrounded by colorful characters, Annie is dropped into the lap of luxury in a millionaire’s mansion and works her way into everyone’s heart.  “Annie Jr.” is a condensed version of the Broadway smash hit “Annie” and features all the favorite tunes from that show including “It’s a Hard Knock Life,”  “Easy Street,” and “Tomorrow.”
“Annie Jr.” is part of the Old Gem’s Youth Season performed for school, church and community groups that travel to the theater for weekday matinees.  Group leaders can contact the theater to set up reservations.  Youth Season shows give student actors an opportunity to perform side by side with adult professional actors.
Member of the Professional Acting Company appearing in the show are Virginia Haggart of Lorretto as Miss Hannigan and Tom Monn of Woodbury as Daddy Warbucks and Rooster Hannigan.
Members of the Young Performers’ Ensemble include:  Amy Lippman, Maggie Brown, Grace Redmond and Bryanna Sengbush of Hudson, Lydia Grunewaldt, Jada Nygaard, Afton Noll and Anna Walter of New Richmond, Stephanie Lustig and Sally Bodlovick of Somerset and Emma Hatch of Houlton.
Tickets are $11.00 for adults and $9.00 for students and seniors.  Group rates for the weekday matinees are available.
