Wish List For The Weekend of December 6-8, 2013
I usually gravitate toward the Free Lists for my weekend family outings, but this is a particularly awesome Wish List weekend. If you want to do something really special any one of these outings would be a winner.
Our Lady of Guadalupe
Our Lady of Guadalupe is a bilingual (Spanish/English) puppet show collaboration between the Basilica of St. Mary and In The Heart of the Beast Puppet Theatre. Performers include: Basilica musicians, In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre; Basilica & Loring Park neighborhood children and youth, and Kalpulli KetzalCoatlicue Aztec Dancers. I can only imagine that this will be a beautiful pairing.
All Tickets are General Admission $15.00 Ages 6+. Free Under 5.
I once read an article about how people in the extreme north get through winter with so little daylight and so much coldness. One of the tricks was to put up holiday lights early and leave them up well into the new year. Night Trains Season reminds me a little of this tradition. The Twin City Model Railroad Museum begins this special Holiday display the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and it runs every Saturday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 pm through the last Saturday in February. Throughout the museums, the model railroad displays are decked out with lights and snow.
$8.00 for Individuals; $25.00 Family; $30.00 Extended Family rate; Children under 5 Free
My favorite American Girl Doll was Samantha. Are there still Samantha fans out there? This would be a great outing for a girl and her doll (I think dolls are free) to experience a Victorian Christmas. The tour includes a free cookies made in a wood burning stove and Christmas music played on a Steinway piano. Afterwards, you can hit Carriage House gift store for replica Victorian ornaments and holiday items.
$11 adults, $9.00 seniors and college students, $7.00 ages 6-17; $3.00 discount for MHS members.
