Built by Grain Belt Brewery founder, Frederick Noerenberg, the Noerenberg Gardens are unique among Three Rivers Parks. There is no playground or beach, and pets are not allowed in this park. It is simply gardens in the English landscape style — a place for quiet walks and contemplation. Okay — not just gardens — it is considered one of the finest examples of formal gardens in the state. It is so beautiful that it is a popular spot to book for weddings and photography shoots.

The park sits along the shore of Crystal Bay on Lake Minnetonka. Three Rivers has created a printable PDF map that you can download before your visit. You may also want to view or copy the current bloom schedule so you know what flowers you’ll see on your visit.

Noerenberg Gardens Tours

One of the best opportunities for families to explore the gardens is the occasional Garden Tours with Horticulture Supervisor Arla Carmichiel. The public is invited to enjoy the changing beauty of the gardens as she shares her knowledge and answers questions. Children 17 years and younger must be accompanied by a registered adult. These tours are $5 per person.

Sundays in the Garden

The other family opportunities are the free and open Sundays in the Garden. Bring the kids to spend the afternoon in the gardens. Hennepin County Master Gardeners will be on hand to give tours and answer questions.
