Do you look at our calendar of events and our December round ups and just wonder, “How do I choose?” I do. There are so many choices. Three things stand out because they will not be returning in 2017. Like the (still missed) Holidazzle Parade, these Twin Cities staples will cease to exist (at least for the indefinite future) after the 2016 season. Okay, it’s not actually “now or never” for two of them, but definitely, “now or not for awhile”. If you are having trouble choosing your holiday outings, consider these three “Now or Never” events:
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever at SteppingStone Theatre is one of those Christmas items that is on my checklist every year. Unfortunately, it tends to get pushed aside for other things because I know I can always catch it next year. Not this year!
SteppingStone has announced that after this year, this beloved classic is getting sent to the vault. We don’t know when we’ll see it again. If, like me, it’s been on your checklist, this is the year to act. If you don’t know about, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, let me give you a quick history.
We wanted to give you a heads up to some of the most exciting Christmas experiences happening this year. We’ll soon have an all-encompassing list for your family, but here are our Top Ten that you won’t want to miss – get them on your calendar! Read More
One way to feel especially in the holiday spirit is to listen the sounds of the season or see the beauty of the season. One of my favorite ways to accomplish this is by attending a Christmas-y performance.
The Twin Cities has a bevy of performances to enjoy and it can get very confusing. We’ve narrowed down the selections for those that are especially family friendly. Read More
Anticipation is in the air and you are probably trying to get your holiday traditions started or your presents wrapped. I know for me, I went crazy baking today. I was going nowhere but my kitchen. However, this weekend hopefully all but wrapping will be finished (dare I say I will have my husband’s gifts purchased?), so the holiday festivities can begin.
And the weekend has some great ideas to start the celebrations off right!

You aren’t going to want to miss this.
This would have been really fun, but its going to be cold out. So Stillwater’s Annual Twinkle Parade is now NEXT SUNDAY! However, if you are interested in going next Sunday you will want to meet at the Dock Cafe at 4PM. This is a parade you march in, not one you watch, so skip the blankets and pillows for sitting on and wear comfortable marching attire, instead. Before the parade, you can enjoy a performance by the Teddy Bear Band performing before everyone marches in the parade along the river to the Lowell Park Gazebo; and afterwards watch the tree lighting ceremony featuring Santa’s arrival on a fire truck, followed by fireworks.
The best part!!! Free hot chocolate, cider, cookies and twinkle lights!

Saturday is the first of TWO Pay What You Can Performances at SteppingStone Theatre. This was one of my favorite books and TV specials when I was a kid. I am excited to share it with my kids in a new format. Since this is a book about a play, I can only imagine it translates well to stage.
I always have a hard time finding the information on Pay What You Can Days on the SteppingStone website, so I’m giving you a link and quoting their information, here.
“The first Saturday of each production, we offer a “Pay What You Can Day.” On the day of the performance, tickets can be purchased in person at any price that suits you. We suggest a minimum of $5.00 per ticket, but the actual price you pay is your choice. Tickets are sold first-come-first-served, so we suggest arriving an hour or so before show time”
