Free Family Weekend Events List for August 7 – 10, 2015

It’s all about art this weekend in the Twin Cities. Minneapolis and St. Paul are hosting four of their big annual festivals, plus join Minneapolis Institute of Arts as they celebrate their 100th birthday with a block party bash. Hours: Fri • 3-11pm, Sat • 10am-11pm, Sun • 9am-7pm

Ages: Designed for kids ages 3-6
Details: This program is a wonderful way to introduce young children to classical music. I brought my three girls (ages 3, 5,& 7) last month and they enjoyed the short classical pieces, “meeting” the stringed instruments, and a classic children’s story set to music. Don’t miss out on the games and crafts available only before the concert. Secure your free tickets here, then pick them up at will call.

First Free Saturday: Kids’ Film Festival

Details: Free gallery admission for the whole family every first Saturday of the month at the Walker! This month features a collection of animated short films and an art project experimenting with animation.

Canadian Pacific Holiday Train
at South Plaza, Union Depot, 214 East 4th Street, Saint Paul, MN 55101

Time: 6-7pm
Cost: Free, or $3 for VIP admission
Details: The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will be rolling through Union Depot raising food and cash donations for food banks in the U.S. and Canada. The entire train is decked out with brilliant holiday lights and musicians onboard a decorated boxcar will perform starting at 6:30. For the train’s complete schedule click here.
