Last year, we road-tripped with all four kids to New York State. We spent time by Lake Michigan, in the Allegheny Mountains, and at the Erie Canal and Niagara Falls. It was so memorable and extremely fun. I did not expect it to be as much fun as it was. But the trip and my family exceeded my expectations. I was thrilled.
Unfortunately, this year, we had to update our bathroom instead of going on vacation. Good for the house, bad for a vacation. So this year, we plan on discovering the family programs around town. With two elementary-aged kids and two preschool-aged kids–well for that matter, two adults, we are becoming a diverse culture of our own. Even with all the different interests, scattered around the Twin Cities are Family-designed activities.
Caponi Art Park in Eagan hosts not one but two of those activities: Family Fun Tuesdays and Summer Performance Series. Both of these activities are fun for the whole family!
Starting Tuesday, June 4-Tuesday, August 27, laugh and play on Family Fun Tuesdays. For one hour from 10:00 am-11:00 am, you can join other metro families in the sculpture garden experiencing various ar forms and world cultures. Hands on activities as well as storytelling, puppetry, music, and dance and visual arts. It is free, but there is a suggested donation of $4 per person.
The Summer Performance Series performs on Sunday evenings June through August in the Theatre in the Woods ampitheater. Performance time vary, but if you guess 6:30 pm, most likely, you will be on time. These performances are also free but have a suggested donation of $5 per person. I love performing arts. I love the theatre and music. I love exposing my children to it. I don’t do as well with the visual arts, but with these activities, we can go for the purpose of the performance. Completely unintentionally by me, my children will be able to enjoy visual art as well.
