Break of Reality is a cello rock band originally formed at the Eastman School of Music in 2003. Their sound is cinematic, subdued and heavy all at once, and their live audiences are equally diverse; fans of Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, and Yo‐Yo Ma are finally getting acquainted. Most recently they’ve posted a video covering the theme to the television show “Game of Thrones,” which has had over one-million hits to date. Huffington Post says its “the best rendition of the theme song you’ll ever hear.“ Additionally, they have over 16 million plays annually on internet radio. The band is committed to music education, having performed at hundreds of public schools across the country, encouraging music students to explore all types of genres on their instruments. They have also developed the Break of Reality DIY Lecture Series, which was designed to empower budding classical musicians with practical, real world music business knowledge.

Besides Family Fun Twin Cities, I spend my 9 to 5 at a day job pursuing my weird passion for calendars and organizing things as a legal secretary. When I get home I spend my time with my four kids, 10, 6, 4 and 1. My amazing husband is both a full-time musician and full-time stay-at-home dad. Together we run a small radio empire — SiaNet Radio — playing, promoting and enjoying the wide variety of local music and art in the Twin Cities. I juggle all this while writing about exploring the Twin Cities with kids. I couldn’t be happier.
