Prep Your Preschooler for Goodnight Moon at Stages

Stages Theatre Company will be presenting its production of Goodnight Moon from January 23rd – February 16th.  This musical is particularly suited for preschool children.  I have some ideas for extending the fun at home.

Margaret Wise Brown’s classic book of the same name is part of the Before Five in a Row preschool program.  I love this program.  It takes a classic book and bases a week’s worth of lessons on it.  Goodnight Moon happens to be the free sample chapter, so you can download a pdf here and check it out.  I think it would be fun to spend a week immersing ourselves in this book and then finish with a trip to Stages to see the musical.

If you don’t happen to own a copy of this book (but of course you do), you can watch a video of it below.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting for performance dates and times or by calling the Box Office at (952) 979-1111, option 4, Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are $16 for adults; $14 for seniors, ages +60; $12 for children, ages 5 to 17.

Stages will be offering an exclusive discount to our newsletter subscribers in our February newsletter.  So be sure to sign up if you haven’t already.

Besides Family Fun Twin Cities, I spend my 9 to 5 at a day job pursuing my weird passion for calendars and organizing things as a legal secretary. When I get home I spend my time with my four kids, 10, 6, 4 and 1. My amazing husband is both a full-time musician and full-time stay-at-home dad. Together we run a small radio empire — SiaNet Radio — playing, promoting and enjoying the wide variety of local music and art in the Twin Cities. I juggle all this while writing about exploring the Twin Cities with kids. I couldn’t be happier.
