Admission: $0.00

TPT is the Twin Cities Public Television station. Besides family programming, they bring family events to the Twin Cities throughout the year. Watch for live versions of your favorite kids’ shows and fun public gatherings. One of our favorites is Family Fun Day at Como Park. Each year, families can purchase discounted ride tickets for Como Town through TPT or just come to Como Zoo for free activities.

Family Fun Idea: If you visit the station, you may want to set aside time to visit the Depot Tot Lot, a train themed park that shares a block with the TV station.

TPT at the State Fair

Each year, TPT has a booth a the State Fair where families can meet some of their favorite characters (like WordGirl!). They also feature local bands and other entertainment.

Family Movie Night with PBS Kids!

Looking for an easy family movie night idea when your kids are on the young side? Every weekend, the TPT PBS Kids 24/7 Channel airs a special PBS KIDS Family Night. This series of weekly family viewing events features PBS movie specials or themed programming every Friday, Saturday & Sunday at 6 & 8 pm. These are going to be most appealing to the preschool set — maybe early grade school.

Once your kids are a little bigger, check out our list of ideas for family movie night here.
