Though Halloween just had to go and fall on a Monday this year, there is no shortage of not-so-spooky family events filling up the weekend prior. Pick your poison – do you want to trick-or-treat? Still hunting for that perfect pumpkin to carve up? How about a fall hayride? We’ve got bunches of ideas for the weekend and beyond on our Family Fun Calendar or browse the highlights below:

HALLOWEEN EVENT SPOTLIGHT:

10/29: Afton’s Trick-or-Treat Trail @ St. Croix Trail through Afton • 11am-2pm • Details: Stop at local businesses to trick-or-treat, decorate a pumpkin at Afton Museum, take part in games and more.

I don’t know how she does it, but while I was out of the office the past week, Joy managed to find and add half a dozen more events to her Guide to Twin Cities Halloween Fun. It’s currently bursting with places to get more wear out of those cute Halloween costumes! Some of them include collecting treats at low-key venues such as these 10 Spots to Trick-or-Treat at Twin Cities Shopping Malls and Trick-or-Treating at Twin Cities Grocery Stores and Markets.
