Mother’s Day Bonsai Show Como Park Zoo Conservatory Ordway Gardens 1225 Estabrook Dr
St. Paul, MN 55103 May 11 & 12, 2013
The Minnesota Bonsai Society Mother’s Day Weekend Bonsai Show is a unique opportunity to see privately owned bonsai in the Conservatory’s brand new bonsai home, The Ordway Gardens. Bonsai are ‘trees in pots’ and are an ancient art form from Japan that blends artistic vision and horticultural expertise. Each bonsai represents nature in miniature and creates appreciation for the aesthetic of great age and rugged form as represented by the trees.
I don’t know what it is about tiny trees, bu I’ve wanted a bonsai since I was a kid. I did enough research over the years to know that real Bonsai’s take a lot of care and don’t happen overnight. That’s why I love the Mother’s Day Bonsai Show. I want to go to this show with my family and enjoy the fruits of the hard work and discipline of someone else. Maybe my kids will become converts to my love of bonsai and someday, when they are bigger, we can grow one together.
