Minneapolis Institute of ArtsThursday, August 15, 2013 6 – 9 p.m.
Third Thursdays at the Minneapolis Institute of Art are like Family Day — only for hipsters. These evenings are aimed at young singles — you know those people who openly opine on Facebook that children should not be allowed in the grocery store. However, Thursday nights are open to everyone and occasionally I find one I might want to do with my kids.
For instance, next Thursday sounds like a great way gear up for the State Fair with “Third Thursday: On A Stick.”
Like the State Fair, the MIA will have a butter sculpture. That huge block of butter to the right will become a replica of the Picasso next to it.
After you have admired the butter monkey, dared your kids to lick it, and then remembered you were the adult and had to scold them for trying, you can herd them over to the art station to make your own masterpiece-on-a-stick.
Sean Anonymous and Dream Crusher will be the musical entertainment and state fair-style food will be for sale.
