It can be tricky finding volunteer opportunities that are appropriate for our whole family. The annual City-Wide Spring Cleanup in St. Paul is one of the few options that lets us volunteer together and allows the flexibility so important when you’re at the mercy of young children. And clearing trash and debris from our local parks and neighborhoods helps teach the kids about being good little stewards of the land.
Originally scheduled for this Saturday, April 13, the cleanup has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 20. (Could this spring BE any more uncooperative?) The five St. Paul kick-off locations are as follows:
- Como Lakeside Pavilion (1360 N Lexington Pkwy)
- Harriet Island Pavilion (200 Dr Justus Ohage Blvd)
- Highland Pavilion (1200 Montreal Ave)
- Phalen Pavilion (1600 Phalen Dr)
- Indian Mounds Shelter (10 Mounds Blvd)
Staff will be at the parks from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. to hand out trash bags, coffee and donuts. Register online here for this family-friendly volunteer opportunity!
Update: The event scheduled for April 20 has been CANCELED. Don’t blame me. Take it up with Mother Nature! If you’re still interested in the project, the city will furnish trash bags for volunteers at its Como office at 1100 N. Hamline Ave during regular business hours.
