Fear not families, we’ve got many ideas for your MEA break with (or without) those kids! Our FFTC Family Guide to MEA Weekend has dozens of ways to spend the time together. And if you need to drop them somewhere engaging there may be space available in one of these Camps & Classes.MEA Break

MEA FAMILY ACTIVITY SPOTLIGHT: Harvest Days @ Oliver Kelley Farm, Elk River
10/20-23 • $6-$9/pp, under 5 free. Adults must accompany • Program details: Join Kelley farmhands in preparing the harvest for winter. Help work in the field, store food in the cellar, make corn husk dolls and play 19th century games.

MEA CAMP SPOTLIGHT: Craft-o-Create @ Heartfelt, Minneapolis
10/20-21 • K-1st grade, 10am-1pm/$40 per day; 2nd grade and up, 10am-3pm/$60 per day • Program details: Projects will be driven by the kids’ interests, those attending Thurs will participate in the Harvest Festival before moving on to other projects.

FALL FESTIVAL SPOTLIGHT: 50th & France Pumpkin Fest & Grand Avenue BooFest

10/22: Pumpkin Fest 2016 @ 50th & France, Edina • 10am-1pm • Details: Kids 12 & under can trick-or-treat at participating local businesses starting at 10am. All ages can enjoy a cakewalk, horse-drawn trolley rides and other activities.

10/23: Grand Avenue BooFest, St. Paul • 11am-3pm • Details: Trick-or-treat at participating businesses along Grand, catch a free pony ride, the petting zoo, a costume contest and Spooky Storytime at Red Balloon Bookshop (12:30pm).

MEA Break

PUMPKIN PATCH SPOTLIGHT: Anoka County Farms, Ham Lake

There’s still plenty of time to pick that perfect pumpkin before Halloween! Anoka County Farms is open MEA Weekend, 10/20-23, 10am-sunset • $5 per car includes admission to pumpkin games and a petting farm. HALLOWEEN EVENT SPOTLIGHT: Halloween Family Fun Day @ Weaver Lake Park, Maple Grove • 1-4pm • $5/child ages 2-8, under 2 & adults free • Details: The park is packed with 20+ activities from inflatables and a maze to pumpkin rolling and crafts.

MEA Break

SHOWTIME SPOTLIGHT: STOMP! @ Ordway Center of Performing Arts • October 19-23 • Showtimes, 7:30 pm  plus 2 pm matinees on Saturday and Sunday • $45-$74

This show is so much more than banging on trashcans with brooms. It’s really funny and has a lot of audience participation.  We walked out of the show grinning like crazy people!
