How are you planning to celebrate Dad this weekend? Maybe he’d be up for one of the many FREE festivals going on this weekend throughout the Twin Cities: St. Louis Park’s Parktacular, Minneapolis’s Stone Arch Bridge Festival or GermanFest at the Historic Schmidt Brewery in St. Paul? Time: 10am-10pm
Details: “Splash Into Summer” with St. Louis Park’s annual start-of-the-season festival. Of special interest to families with young children, Kidtacular takes place Saturday only, from 2-6pm in Wolfe Park (3700 Monterey Dr., SLP) with a ton of free children’s events including pony rides, character greetings, canoe rides, a magician and more. Get the full listing of activities here. Parktacular’s Grand Day Parade will take place from noon-2pm starting at the intersection of 40th & Joppa.

Time: 10am-7pm Saturday • 10am-5pm Sunday
Details: A full weekend of art, live music and family activities along the Mississippi Riverfront. Of special interest to families with little ones is the Family Activities Area, a space of hands-on entertainment that is also close the live music stage and the Father’s Day car show. Time: 10am-4pm Saturday & Sunday
Details: The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory is celebrating a century of gorgeous gardens with a weekend of special presentations and activities. The events start Friday, June 19 at 7pm, with an outdoor concert, movie and dome-lighting ceremony and continue throughout the weekend. For a full listing of events, click here.

Time: 10am-10pm Saturday • 10am-5pm Sunday
Details: Don’t let vision of beer steins prevent you from bringing everyone out to this family-friendly event. The Kids Area will feature art, games and German cultural activities for all ages. Get a taste for them here.

Eden Prairie Players Present: “Once Upon a Mattress”

Time: 7pm Saturday& Sunday
Details: The classic story of the Princess and the Pea as presented by the Eden Prairie Players – and it’s FREE (donations appreciated).
