Windom Northeast Park is a favorite with my kids. The play equipment is slightly more challenging than at many other parks. Another parent commented on how they noticed that the equipment was made for movement. It doesn’t really allow for sitting still. The park contains two connecting playgrounds, one appropriate for grade school and another designed for toddlers. Windom Park’s Recreation Center is an air-conditioned facility. It offers drop in use of board games, computer lab, foosball, ping pong and billiards. It has a community kitchen, a craft room, a gymnasium, a meeting room and a multipurpose room. Note that the Rec Center is located in the southeast corner of the park and shares a building with Pillsbury Elementary School. It can look like it is across the street from the main park, but you can actually get to the building without ever crossing a street because Hayes Street does not go all the way through in that corner. MPRB rents park facilities for birthday parties and other private events. Individuals and groups are encouraged to use the centers and park spaces for self-directed activities.
