Wow! I can't wait for my favorite, Disney Movie to be remade this year!!The 2016 Family Friendly Disney Movie schedule has been released. There are quite a few good films planned this year. Several are based on classic books. A long-awaited sequel is on this list; and there is a remake of a guilty pleasure for some of us grown ups.

Check out the list below:

Winter Disney Movie List:

January 29, 2016 – The Finest Hours (Walt Disney Studios) (PG-13)

March 4, 2016 – Zootopia (Walt Disney Animation Studios) (PG)

Spring Disney Movie List:

April 15, 2016 – The Jungle Book (Walt Disney Studios)

May 6, 2016 – Captain America: Civil War (Marvel)

May 27, 2015 – Alice Through the Looking Glass (Walt Disney Studios)

June 17, 2016 – Finding Dory (Disney / Pixar)

Summer Disney Movie List:

July 1, 2016 – The BFG (Walt Disney Studios)

August 12, 2016 – Pete’s Dragon (Walt Disney Studios)

Fall Disney Movie List:

Fall 2016 – Queen of Katwe (Walt Disney Studios)

November 4, 2016 – Doctor Strange (Marvel)

November 23, 2016 – Moana (Walt Disney Animation Studios)

December 16, 2015 – Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Lucasfilm)

TBD 2016 – The Light Between Oceans (DreamWorks Pictures)

Most of these Disney movies have not yet been rated. We’ll try to update ratings as they come out. Despite a 2006 study showing that G-rated movies tend to be very profitable, they are still hard to come by. Not every Disney movie is for the smallest family members, but Disney is still a leader in family-friendly films. I have high hopes that Finding Dory will be Rated G since Finding Nemo was.  There are a few others on this list that look promising. Most will probably be in the PG/PG-13 area.
Somewhere between diapering (whether cloth or disposable), potty training, keeping our kids healthy with nutritious food and finding the right school or education plan for our kids, we need a little fun.  Sometimes movies are that fun.

Together we run a small radio empire — SiaNet Radio — playing, promoting and enjoying the wide variety of local music and art in the Twin Cities. I juggle all this while writing about exploring the Twin Cities with kids. I couldn’t be happier.
